Our story thus far…

After meeting online toward the end of Lockdown 2020, as is the norm these days, Rey and Sean met up for coffee one chilly August day. Over coffee (and a milkshake for Kimmy) they discussed numerous shared interests (such as wine, music, theatre…) for hours, which felt like minutes for the newly infatuated pair.

A few days later they met up for a second date of butter chicken (made by Rey) and some wine (5 bottles to be exact). A week or so later they had dinner again during which Sean mentioned that he was going away for a few days with friends and Rey was welcome to join if he wanted to. Rey wasn’t sure if he was going to go all the way to Marloth Park for two days until he left work at 5pm on the Friday afternoon. Arriving at Marloth just before 11pm Rey was introduced to Katie and Anelda for the first time and settled in with a glass of wine around the braai. Saturday was filled with game drives, swimming in the pool and good conversation. Rey left Marloth on Sunday to head back home, only to learn that he had missed a great giraffe sighting right at the house!

On the 1st of November 2020 the pair made their relationship official near Fort Klapperkop overlooking the Jacaranda city.

In January 2021 Rey, Sean & Kim moved in together for the first time and then they moved into their new home on the 13th of March 2022.

In July 2022 they took a family vacation, heading back to Marloth Park along with Kim & Wian. While exploring around Marloth on foot they encountered a herd of giraffes, much to Rey’s excitement, as he was planning to propose to Sean near the giraffes, but alas, the kids scared the giraffes away, ruining the opportunity! The next day was spent in the Kruger National Park where Sean was also secretly planning on proposing to Rey, but wherever they stopped there were just too many people, or the light wasn’t good for photos… so they decided to head home. As they left the park from Malelane gate, they stopped on the bridge over the Crocodile river for a last sunset look over the park. After watching the sunset and the elephants in the riverbed and posing for a bunch of family photos Sean went down on one knee, as Rey was working up the courage to do the same. They both proposed to each other with (nearly identical) black engagement rings right there on the bridge. They headed back to Marloth for a drink at the Tin Shack to calm the nerves and spread the news. Turns out Rey asked permission to propose to Sean; Sean had not done the same.

A few months later in October 2022 they found the perfect venue and set a date for the day they have invited you to share with them and their loved ones…
