Redefining My Limits: The Hyrox Breakthrough

Date: 9 February 2026

Yesterday wasn’t just another day at the gym. It was the day I realized I’ve been underestimating myself. Under the guidance of my trainer, Asad, I tackled a Hyrox Gym Challenge that pushed me into new territory—and I came out the other side “acing it.”

The Warm-Up: Setting the Pace

I kicked things off with a 10-minute cardiovascular primer:

500m Row / 750m Ski-Erg / 500m Row

I cleared the distance in just under 9 minutes, leaving me primed for the main event.

The 20-Minute Challenge: 3 Rounds of Grit

The goal: complete three full sets of this circuit as fast as possible.

The “All-Out” Finisher

Just when I thought I was done, there was one last test. I had to hop on the treadmill and sprint 500m as fast as I possibly could.
I was absolutely stoked to clock in at just over 3 minutes. To put that into perspective, Asad told me afterward that after a session that intense, it normally takes him around 5 minutes to hit that distance. Beating the trainer’s benchmark? I’ll take that win any day!

Finding My “Hidden” Strength

By the final sets, every muscle was screaming. But this is where the months of strength training paid off. I felt it in my shoulders, my legs, and—most importantly—my mind.

I’ll be honest: I didn’t know I had this kind of power in me. There is a specific kind of “pump” you get when you realize you aren’t just surviving the workout—you’re conquering it.

The Power of a Great Coach

A huge shoutout goes to Asad. He is an absolute beast when it comes to technique, but his real strength is his belief in his athletes. When Asad told me I could do Hyrox, that was all the validation I needed to go all in.

What’s Next?

I never saw myself as a “racer” or a competitive athlete. Yet, here I am, obsessed with the process and hungry for the next session. I’m training, I’m motivated, and I am officially ready to see what else I can achieve on the Hyrox floor.

The journey to fit and strong is officially in high gear.
